The Canon Dome at Berlinale 56, 10-16 February

From 9-19 February 2006, the 56th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) plays host to cinema’s leading lights – the world’s biggest talents, both in front of the camera and behind the lens.

This year, Canon Europe is co-partner to Berlinale and is proud to support Europe’s most talented film and video professionals.

Berlinale and Canon: perfect partners
On 6 June 1951, Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca opened the very first Berlin Film Festival. Today, screening around 350 films during a 10-day period of activity, Berlinale stands as one of Europe’s most prestigious celebrations of film. Attracting 16,000 industry professionals to the city each year, and selling an additional 150,000 individual tickets, Berlinale boasts the highest attendance of any film festival in the world.

Like Berlinale, Canon has worked closely with imaging professionals for over half a century. The company was formally established in 1937 and has grown to become one the world’s leading innovators of photographic and video technologies.

The Canon Dome
From 10-16 February, The Canon Dome at Leipziger Platz, Berlin, is the central location for the company’s activities at Berlinale. Not just an event space but also a giant projection screen, the Dome is a public spectacle that perfectly captures the spirit of Berlinale by showing daily festival highlights alongside spectacular AV shows.

Inside The Canon Dome, a public exhibition (open daily from 12pm) showcases the company’s latest video capture and projection products, including the XL H1, the flagship High Definition (HD) video camcorder, and the XEED range of projectors, including the award winning Canon XEED SX50 (‘Best Photo Projector’, European Photo & Imaging Awards, TIPA 2005). The Dome’s High Definition cinema is the perfect venue to demonstrate up-close all that these Canon products have to offer consumers and professionals alike.
